A Devil May Cry board game has been announced by Steamforged Games, the same company behind Resident Evil 2: The Board Game and Dark Souls: The Board Game. Their venture into the world of Devil May Cry pits two-to-four players against the terrors of The Bloody Palace, a 101-floor tower that throws some of the game’s toughest enemies at you one after another. The longstanding game mode from the demon-slaying franchise is now making its way to the world of tabletop games.
“As a long-time fan of Devil May Cry and given my background, I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the team working on this board game,” Says Steamforged Games Creative Director Mat Hart. “From the beautiful sculpts through to the subtle yet dramatic depth of gameplay, we’ve captured the very theme and essence of all that is awesome about Devil May Cry.”
Players can take control of one of four demon hunters in the upcoming Devil May Cry board game: Dante, Nero, Trish, or the mysterious V. This certainly won’t be a cooperative game — you’ll be trying to outscore your friends by building up the most impressive attack combo. Demons will be represented on the game board with high-quality plastic models on a hex-based grid. You’ll probably have to provide your own music to go with the fast-paced action, but you could always pick up the massive 5-disc Devil May Cry OST.
Unfortunately, the more impatient folks out there are going to have a bit of a wait for the Devil May Cry board game as it hasn’t even begun production. A Kickstarter campaign will be coming sometime in the near future. (No need to worry about failure; Steamforged Games pulled off both the Dark Souls board game Kickstarter and the Resident Evil 2 board game Kickstarter without much in the way of problems.) In the meantime, you can enter to win a copy of the Devil May Cry board game yourself on the blog post announcing the game.
