It’s been two decades in the making, but there’s still no sign of a Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled PC release on the horizon. However, with the game industry providing more twists and turns than Papu’s Pyramid in terms of breaking down platform barriers in recent years, there’s every possibility that the CTR remake will come to Steam sooner rather than later. Below, we’ll look at the mounting evidence stacking up suggesting that Crash Team Racing is coming to PC.
Will there be a Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled PC release?
As of writing, there has been no announcement about a Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled PC release on Steam or any other platform other than the confirmed pair of PS4 and Xbox One. However, there is a good reason to believe the karting remake will make its way to Steam at some point in the near future, potentially in 2020, even if Beenox and Activision has kept schtum thus far.
For one thing, Crash N. Sane Trilogy eventually made its way to Steam (no, not the Epic Game Store, folks) a year after the game’s original PS4 exclusive launch. That hints at possible time-gating, the idea that one platform gets an exclusive for a set amount of time, in place, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see it happening again.
Activision’s other nostalgia cash cow, the Spyro Reignited Trilogy has also been greasing the wheels on the PC hype train, with a Taiwanese ratings board listing a PC release for the game.
Now, all eyes fall on a Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled PC release. A 670-strong contingent of players have already signed a petition for the game to come to the platform. While that isn’t the largest number in the world, the appetite will clearly be there for Crash to screech his way round the bend and fly onto rigs around the world in maybe a year or so.
Yet, it’s very much a case of wait and see at this moment in time. The smart money is on “yes” but nothing has been confirmed. If you want to play Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled this year, you’re going to have to buy it on console.
