E3 2019 | Uplay Plus release date, price, and platforms announced

During the Ubisoft E3 2019 conference, the Uplay Plus release date, price, platforms, and more were announced. This subscription service grants access to over 100+ games, as well as new titles including Ghost Recon Breakpoint and Watch Dogs Legion.

The Uplay Plus price will be $14.99/€14.99 a month, however those who sign up early will get free access during the launch month of September.

September 3, 2019 is the exact day that the service will go live to users in US and the majority of Europe, giving subscribers access to over 100 games, downloadable contact, and “classic games.”

Uplay Plus will initially be available only on PC, but the service will extend to Google Stadia in 2020.

Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, Ubisoft’s vice president of platform and product management Brenda Panagrossi said that the company would “like to see the service on other platforms, too, although it has nothing to announce at the moment.”

That does mean that PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch users will be left out, at least during the initial launch phases of the service.

Uplay Plus joins a number of subscription services that offer access to games for a monthly/annual fee. EA Access, Xbox Game Pass and Games With Gold, and PlayStation Plus are the biggest competitors, though on PC there is also the Humble Monthly bundle and more.

With more and more subscription services popping up and asking players for cash, one has to wonder whether there’s enough room for them all.

Splitting movie and TV shows across multiple services has become an annoyance voiced by many. How much is too much when it comes to pay monthly game subscriptions?

On the brighter side, so long as you’re taking advantage of new releases and experiencing a decent chunk of the library on offer, the value proposition will likely attract many keen gamers.
