Can You Carry Levels Over into Super Mario Maker 2? | Can I play Mario Maker 1 levels in Mario Maker 2?
The joy of creating something new in Super Mario Maker 2 and sharing it online for others to play is great, but can you carry levels over into Super Mario Maker 2 from the original game? We’re sure that plenty of you out there will have some favorite levels from the original Super Mario Maker that you’d wish to carry over to its sequel in order to play, update, or do whatever you want to it. Unfortunately, however, you cannot carry any Super Mario Maker 1 courses over to Super Mario Maker 2.
This means that you cannot export or transfer any stage from the original Mario Maker into its sequel. No matter how much you’d like to do so. Of course, this also means that you cannot play Mario Maker 1 stages in Mario Maker 2. Anything you made in the original will likely stay in that game forever.
There are simply too many new features in Super Mario Maker 2 over the original (and some missing features). It would likely prove very tricky to transfer any courses over because of new features such as slopes, night, and the brand-new Super Mario 3D World course design. At least, this is all the case right now. Nintendo may make it possible to transfer stages over from the first Super Mario Maker into Super Mario Maker 2, but it does seem rather unlikely. Time to turn on that Wii U or 3DS if you want to play stages from the original Mario Maker.
