Simulacrum

Simulacrum is the new Silent Hill game you wanted but couldn’t have

Simulacrum – Chapter One has recently debuted with little fanfare, but it seems like it’s well on its way to being the Silent Hill game that we’ve wanted but just couldn’t get. This indie project by Prymordium seeks to create a new game in the style of Silent Hill — and it’s just released its first chapter.

In Simulacrum, players take on the role of a girl named Abigail who has unfortunately found herself trapped in a strange, dark world. With only a tiny pocket flashlight and her wits to guide her, Abigail must navigate the world, solving puzzles, avoiding deadly situations, and hopefully escaping the hellish nightmare that she’s found herself trapped in.

Players will work their way through the game, navigating creepy environments and solving puzzles in the style of classic survival horror games like Silent Hill and the O.G. Resident Evil games. Chapter One includes nine separate puzzles for players to work their way through (and the developer has helpfully provided a walkthrough if you manage to get yourself stuck).

The first chapter of the game was released to GameJolt following a short closed beta period. It doesn’t require much in the way of computing power for players to get into it; having Windows 8, an i3, and relatively decent graphics hardware should be enough to get you started.

Unfortunately, there is still a lot that we don’t know about the game. Is there going to be any combat in the final version or will this simply focus on puzzles? What can we expect to see in future chapters? We’ll have to wait to find out, but for now, you can check out this old-school survival horror throwback at the cost of $1 (or more, if you want). Do make sure you grab it now if you’re really keen on playing this; the developer may well increase the game’s price in a future update. You can see some Simulacrum Gameplay Footage below to get an idea of what you can expect to see while playing Chapter One.
