Highly anticipated video games may be launching every week this November, but that shouldn’t excuse Sony and Microsoft from offering a catalog of great titles on PS Plus and Games With Gold next month. Now is a perfect time to celebrate well-received games that have launched during November in the past, after all. As evidenced in our November 2019 PS Plus and Games With Gold predictions below, we believe licensed titles, military shooters, and kid-friendly platformers are all ripe for the picking.
November 2019 PS Plus and Xbox Games With Gold predictions | The big ones
With Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order launching on November 15 and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker just around the corner, it makes a ton of sense for any one of EA’s Star Wars Battlefront titles to be featured on PS Plus and Games With Gold next month. It would be appropriate given how the first game released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 17, 2015 and how the second game released for both platforms on November 17, 2017. Having each title on Sony and Microsoft’s services would be an excellent way to compliment Fallen Order‘s release, as the Respawn game will only include a single-player campaign.

Another EA game that seems poised to be featured on either service is Battlefield 5, as it launched for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 20, 2018 and has received a ton of updates in the past year, including a battle royale component named Firestorm. Considering how the game’s sales have been “disappointing” so far, its presence on PS Plus or Games With Gold could help revitalize its community and entice people to purchase booster packs and in-game currency. The title could use some new players this November, especially after Call of Duty: Modern Warfare‘s release a couple of days ago.
Given how we won’t see a new Assassin’s Creed game this year, there’s a good chance that entries from early in the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One’s life cycle, like Black Flag, Unity, or Syndicate, will show up on PS Plus or Games With Gold next month, too. It would make financial sense for publisher Ubisoft, as each game has plenty of skins, weapons, and side missions available for purchase. Should the company feel generous this November, it could opt to offer the franchise’s latest entry, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, on either service instead. It wouldn’t be a bad decision, considering how all of the DLC episodes for Legacy of the First Blade and The Fate of Atlantis have finally released.
Another Ubisoft title that would make sense for PS Plus or Games With Gold this November is Watch Dogs 2. Outside of the fact that the title is celebrating its third anniversary next month, the game’s presence on either service would serve as a nice reminder of Watch Dogs Legion‘s release early next year. Like with all the Assassin’s Creed entries mentioned above, the sequel also has plenty of DLC available for purchase. Since the original game was offered on Games With Gold in June 2017, it seems like it’s only a matter of time before Watch Dogs 2 shows up as an offering on one of the two services.
Super Lucky’s Tale is a contender for Games With Gold next month, as it released for Xbox One on November 7, 2017. Though the title may not appeal directly to adults, it could help occupy young kids over Thanksgiving break. Suffice it to say, cooking a good holiday dinner as a parent is a little easier without children running around in the kitchen.
Tetris Effect would be a great game for PS Plus next month given its simple premise and mesmerizing visuals. Though it doesn’t feature a local multiplayer component, spectators will undoubtedly sway to the rhythm of the music onscreen and cheer players on as scores grow and tempos build. It’s compatibility with PlayStation VR is icing on the cake. Grandma may even want to try on the headset for herself this Thanksgiving. She probably hasn’t had an experience like that since the Summer of Love.
Of course, PlayStation 4 exclusive Killzone: Shadow Fall could finally be offered to North American PS Plus subscribers this November, as it released for PlayStation 4 on November 15, 2013 and was offered to Japanese PS Plus subscribers in December 2014. That’s not to mention that the game’s multiplayer component was free for a limited time to all users back in March 2014.
Other PlayStation 4 exclusives like Gravity Rush Remastered, Gravity Rush 2, Knack 2 could always show up on PS Plus, too. Similarly, Games With Gold could finally feature the likes of ReCore, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, or Gears of War 4.
November 2019 PS Plus and Xbox Games With Gold predictions | The indies
Given the season, Sony and Microsoft should try their best to offer great party games for their respective services next month. Gang Beasts, for instance, seems perfect for older kids looking to get away from their parents for a little bit. Crawl and Enter the Gungeon are suited for friends who like to get together after Thanksgiving to vent about their family frustrations. The platform holders may not be able to offer any booze, but a good party title does make for a solid foundation.
Whatever Sony and Microsoft decide to offer this November, here’s hoping that their services bring families and friends closer together rather than further apart. This Thanksgiving, fans may be lucky enough to convince their folks to shoot up a couple of stormtroopers with them while the turkey is roasting in the oven. It’s what the holiday is all about.
