EA has announced details about the NHL 20 Ultimate Edition and what pre-order bonuses you’ll get for your money. If you can’t afford to stump up the cash for this version though, our guide also covers the Standard and Deluxe editions. We can help you to decide which version to get before the game’s September 13 release date. Have a read of our NHL 20 Ultimate Edition guide for the lowdown on all three versions.
NHL 20 Ultimate Edition | Standard edition
If you thought that the Standard edition would only net you the base game, you’re wrong. There are a couple of pre-order prizes you’ll get if you do buy it ahead of time.

First, you’ll receive up to 10 Hocket Ultimate Team (HUT) Diamond Choice Packs. EA hasn’t stated how many you’ll actually get with the Standard edition, but we imagine it won’t be 10. A nice middle number of around five or six would be a good bet.
You’ll also get 5 World of CHEL Hockey bags. These give you cosmetics that allow you to customize the character you create for World of CHEL mode and other multiplayer modes in the game. Again, five is a decent number to start you off, but bear in mind you might have to pay real cash if you want to get more bags once you start playing.
NHL 20 Ultimate Edition | Deluxe version
The Deluxe edition comes with the two Standard edition pre-order bonuses and two extra goodies: You’ll be given three-day early access to NHL 20, which means you can play it from September 10. You’ll also earn a HUT Hometown Choice Pack. This will give you a choice of one hero item to use in Ultimate Team, and adds a +1 Overall (OVR) rating to your Ultimate Team each month up until April 2020.
NHL 20 Ultimate Edition | Pre-order bonuses
Finally, we have the Ultimate Edition. This version comes with all of the pre-order gifts that the other editions come boxed with as well as one final surprise: The Ultimate Edition grants you exclusive access to HUT Competitive Season, which kicks off on September 13. This mode allows you to compete online in a calendar year to earn in-game rewards. Be aware it’ll put you up against some superb players, so you’ll have to be at your best to beat them.
