Will There be an Astral Chain PC Port?

Platinum Games’ latest action extravaganza Astral Chain is releasing on Nintendo Switch on August 30, 2019. It is a Nintendo Switch exclusive title, but what does that mean in terms of a potential Astral Chain PC port release date? In this guide, we’ll let you know how likely an Astral Chain release on PC is. We’ll run through all the points for and against such an eventual port and release date. If you want to know if Astral Chain will ever come to the PC, this is definitely the guide for you.

Will There be an Astral Chain PC Port?

Astral Chain PC

As stated above, Astral Chain is a Nintendo Switch exclusive action game from the minds behind Bayonetta, Devil May Cry, and Nier: Automata. As such, you can very much expect Astral Chain to remain only on the Switch in terms of console releases. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the Nintendo-published game will never materialize on PC.

While Nintendo isn’t exactly known for allowing its IPs to release on other platforms such as PC, it doesn’t mean that Astral Chain will definitely never appear on personal computers. Other companies such as Microsoft have been releasing games on both consoles and PC, after all. Nintendo could decide to follow suit and begin to release a number of its games on PC.

Despite the fact that Nintendo could theoretically release games such as Astral Chain on PC, it is monumentally unlikely. As stated above, Nintendo doesn’t exactly have much of track record in doing so. Nintendo is exceedingly unlikely to release one of its published games on any other platform, even PC.

While an Astral Chain PC port could happen at some point, we’d recommend that you never get your hopes up. We’d file this one under “could happen, but almost definitely never will.” If you want to play Astral Chain, buy a Nintendo Switch. Cross those fingers, toes, and everything else, however, and who knows what might happen?
