Xbox 360, PS3 Versions of Battlefield 4 Won’t Support Second-Screen Functionality

If you were hoping to take advantage of Battlefield 4's second screen functionality on either the Xbox 360 or PS3, you're going to be disappointed. Battlelog assistant producer Jesper Nielsen confirmed to Engadget that this feature is limited to next-gen consoles and PC.

But why? Well, it has everything to do with making Battlelog the best experience for gamers possible. The service is now completely web-based, which unfortunately rules out the possibility of supporting current-gen gaming hardware.

Nielsen explained:

Battlelog is powered by the web, and that has a lot of implications. There are a lot of different things you can do, things you can do faster, rather than building stuff in native code.

It's going to be a lot easier for us to actually update things from the in-game Battlelog than would otherwise be the case. You'd have to do patches normally; here we can actually do things almost by the flick of a finger.
