The Outer Worlds Science weapons are incredibly powerful but take some work to find. You’ll need them to complete the Weapons From the Void side quest. So how do you find all Science weapons in The Outer Worlds? It depends on which one, as there are a few of them: the Shrink Ray, Prismatic Hammer, Mandibular Rearranger, Gloop Gun, and Mind Control Ray. Here’s The Outer Worlds Science weapons locations.
The Outer Worlds Science Weapons | Phineas’ Lab Science Weapon location
- Science Weapon: Shrink Ray
- Location: Table in Phineas’ Lab
Shrink Ray locaion
The Shrink Ray is the easier Science weapon to find for the Weapons From the Void mission. Just go to Phineas’ lab from your navigation terminal on your ship. Then run to where Phineas is. There’s not much room to explore so just follow the path. It should be on the table right in front of him. There’s a map of the weapon above.
The Outer Worlds Science Weapons | Groundbreaker Science weapon location
- Weapon: Prismatic Hammer
- Location: Locked door in Groundbreaker
Prismatic Hammer location
The devastating Prismatic Hammer is on the Groundbreaker. You may see it on your map but it takes some tricks to get to. First, go to a resting area, which is just to the left after the security checkpoint (see above picture for exact location). You need to get to that vent highlighted by the circle in the picture below by jumping on top of the crates against that wall.
Make your way through the small opening and then you’ll come across a group of enemies. Deal with them and check out the door to the right of where you walked in. Once you do that, go to the door near the workbench in that room. Use the Repair Hanger Keycard (it is on the body of the Outlaw Squad Leader) or hack it (you need a Hack skill of 60) to open and you’ll see the hammer sitting on the table. It’s incredibly powerful so you may want to keep this one handy and level it up. The power swing can kill strong enemies in just a few hits. Since it is so devastating, you’re going to want to find out how to find the Science weapon on Groundbreaker in The Outer Worlds almost as soon as you start.
The Outer Worlds Science Weapons | Scylla Science weapon location
- Weapon: Mandibular Rearranger
- Location: Green box in Scylla
Mandibular Rearranger location
The Mandibular Rearranger Science weapon is on Scylla. Just activate the quest and it’ll take you right to the weapon. You can see the exact location on the map, but the game will take you straight to it if you have the quest active. You’ll see it in a green box in a shack.
The Outer Worlds Science Weapons | Monarch Science weapon location
- Weapon: Gloop Gun
- Location: UDL Lab in Monarch

These last two require more steps. First, go to Fallbrook on Monarch and go to Duncan’s weapon store called SubLight Dry Goods and Sundry. You have to buy the SubLight Datapad and Damaged UDL Datapad from him. This will open up the opportunity to get the next two Science weapons.
The Gloop Gun is located at the UDL Lab on Monarch, which you should visit right after you buy the datapads off Duncan. Just visit the area highlighted on the above map and you’ll come across a lab. Clear out possible enemies and you’ll see the Gloop Gun just sitting there. But it isn’t that easy.
It’s not easy because it’s locked away in a glass container. There is a terminal next to it that you’ll need to interact with. You can hack if your Hack skill is at 100. But your Hack skill probably isn’t that high.
In that case, head upstairs and you’ll find the key. To find out how to find the UDL Lab Weapons Terminal Key, you’ll need to do some searching. Just go upstairs and you’ll see it on a table (reference the above picture). This will open the terminal. If your Hack skill is at 55, you can just hack the answer to the riddle and get the gun. But if not, the Gloop Gun terminal answers are:
- Protect the Chairman
- Berate him relentlessly to defend the Chairman’s honor
- Arrest your spouse and admit your children to a reeducation program
Once you’re done, you’ll have that Gloop Gun.
The Outer Worlds Science Weapons | Cascadia Science weapon location
- Weapon: Mind Control Ray
- Location: Elevator shaft in Cascadia
Mind Control Ray location
This one is going to take a ton of steps and is the most confusing. But first things first, bring Vicar Max or Parvati with you so you don’t have to go back to the ship at the very end. After buying the SubLight Datapad, you may think you can just go right over to Cascadia and get the gun. You can’t. The locked door won’t open. So you’ll need to go see Lilya Hagen on the Groundbreaker. She is in the SubLight Salvage and Shipping store, which sticks out because of its yellow sign with a red, electrical character (also note that the above picture is not where she is; you’ll need that map for the next paragraph). Walk in and go straight ahead to the elevator and take that up. Talk to her to get a mission.
From here, go to Stellar Bay on Monarch and go to the spot on the map in the picture at the top of this section to see the dead man with the passcode on him. After that, go to Catherine Malin in Fallbrook on Monarch.
Go speak to her and she should set you down the right path to go to Cascadia on Monarch (pictured above) as long as you say that you are the fixer for her SubLight problem. Now is where you’ll need to have Parvati or Vicar Max. Go to through the mission like normal, doing the tasks the game assigns to you if you have the Space Crime Continuum quest active.
After one of your partners hacks the terminal, you’ll come across this door and elevator shaft, right by the exit.

Jump into the elevator shaft to the right of the exit sign and do some light platforming. Climb some ladders and jump across and you’ll see the final Science weapon just waiting there for you.
