Modern Warfare didn’t have the smoothest of launches and Infinity Ward has already released a few patches and hotfixes to solve the most glaring issues. Thankfully, the noisy footsteps seem to be a thing of the past with the release of the 1.08 update. A new Call of Duty Modern Warfare update was just released today, November 15, exclusively for PC, aiming to fix a few issues that affected the game’s stability.

As usual, the update news came straight from Ashton Williams, senior communications manager at Infinity Ward. Besides the release of the new PC patch, she disclosed to the community that the team is working on a patch that is going to fix “a good handful of challenges and officer progression bugs.” There is no release date for this patch, which is currently undergoing internal testing.

But back to the Call of Duty Modern Warfare update released on November 15. This patch solves some stuttering and hitching issues that happened during cutscenes on PC, considerably affecting your enjoyment of the single player campaign; however, some players may continue to experience these issues, and Infinity Ward is asking any affected players to report them.
The remainder of the Modern Warfare PC patch improves stability, fixing the Dev Error 6178. If you don’t know what this error is about, you can consider yourself on the lucky side of the spectrum. It is a frequent error that crashes the game entirely and it’s been happening since release, with no fix or reliable workaround. There are reports of players saying that it happens to them several times a day, rendering the game unplayable.
One error down, several others to go. Many Modern Warfare players are reporting other errors on the official Reddit thread, such as Dev Error 6065 and Dev Error 6068, among others, which hopefully will be fixed soon. Either that or skill-based matchmaking (SBMM), still the hot topic among the Modern Warfare community.
