Tips and Tricks
There are four key areas to improve your bike - engine, stability, tires and recovery time. Engine is the best place to start, as that'll help you keep the overall best speed during a race. Stability maintains your balance after coming off a really cool jump or trick. Recovery will get you back on the road fast after crashing your bike. Finally, improved tires assist you in getting through mud bogs faster. Try to spread your wealth across four areas, but focus on engine the most.
When it comes to performing tricks in the game - mainly front and back flips - you'll want to keep an eye out for really big jumps. You'll know them when you see them, either by the steep incline or the green signs that indicate you can use a boost to get a little higher in the air. Once you're off the jump, start into your flip immediately. If you go too slow, chances are you won't land properly. The quicker you execute the flip, the more chances you have of landing safely.
When it comes to mud bogs, you need to get through them one way or another. If possible, go ahead and go into a wheelie when hitting these. You'll slow down and come back down on the tire, but your momentum will carry you through a good part of the pit. If for some reason you can't do the wheelie, keep your finger on the left arrow. You'll maintain enough speed, combined with your acceleration, to get out in one piece.
Boosts are rather easy to execute. Keep an eye out for green arrow signs that appear before a hill, and right when you reach the incline, hold down the right arrow button in conjunction with your acceleration. Combined together, you'll gain that necessary boost to give you a lead over the competition. It takes a little practice, but by the second lap, you should have it nailed down.
In later races, you'll come across exclamation point signs. When you see these, slow down, then build up speed for the next jump. Other riders may go right past you, but you'll be able to fly over steep ridges that you'll otherwise get stuck on. It's best to jump over them.
