Playable Baby Sonic now available in select Sonic The Hedgehog games

We’re getting closer to the release date of the Sonic The Hedgehog movie, and the fine folks at SEGA have cooked up a cool promotion. There is now a playable Baby Sonic available in a couple of the franchise’s newer games.

As highlighted by ResetEra, a tweet went out on the official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account. It announces, quite simply, that there is now a playable Baby Sonic available in both Sonic Dash on mobile devices and the multiplatform title Sonic Forces.

Baby Sonic first made his international debut when Japanese promotional material revealed that moviegoers in that country could purchase a special keychain when they go to see the movie.  One week later, the adorable, junior-sized version of The Fastest Thing Alive appeared in a trailer and stole our hearts. Now, you can enjoy a playable Baby Sonic in two games that are avaiable right now!

The first title featuring Baby Sonic is the free-to-play title Sonic Dash which you can get for both Android and iOS. This game is an endless runner featuring Sonic the Hedgehog and probably one of the few existing video game franchises that actually makes sense in the genre.

On the flip side of the coin is Sonic Forces, a platformer game released in 2017 that notably featured the ability for players to create their own character in the style of Sonic the HedgehogMicrosoft Store characters. Baby Sonic is also available in this game, and you can get it on Steam, the Nintendo eShop, the PlayStation Store, the , and the App Store for iOS at prices ranging from $19.99–$39.99 or your regional equivalent. (The iOS version is also a free-to-play experience.)

The announcement states that the playable Baby Sonic will be available for “a limited time”, but it doesn’t specify how long that will be. If you’d like to play as this adorable critter, it’s best that you do it sooner rather than later. In the meantime, you can look forward to the release of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie when it arrives in theaters on February 14, 2020.
