Prior The Sims 3 expansions allowed you to travel into the future using the time machine, but soon you'll have the ability to actually go there.
In the launch trailer above released today by developer Maxis, the Into The Future expansion pack will be set in Oasis Landing, a metropolis where people have ridiculous facial hair and geometric clothes, servants and store vendors are robots (Woohoo?!), and jetpacks are commonplace. It would seem that your current Sims will be able to access Oasis Landing by means of a portal next to your house and that travelling about the city can be done by hover monorail.
You will also be able to alter the future of Oasis Landing through your actions in the present world. Three starkly different outcomes are available, ranging from what seems to be an eden to a terribly polluted dystopia.
The Sims 3 Into The Future, rated 'T', will be available in retail stores and on Origin.com on October 22, 2013. Pre-ordering the title will net you a Quantum Power Pack that includes a hibernation chamber and multi-function power suit.
