To make a party private in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare or Warzone, you need to adjust your lobby’s privacy settings. In the Party tab, press R3 on PS4 or RS on Xbox One. From there, scroll down and select the Invite Only option.

It’s fair to say that the menu systems in Modern Warfare and Warzone a bit confusing. This is mainly because common options are spread all across the screen. If you’re new to the game, here’s how to create a new party and set it to private, or invite-only:

  1. From the Multiplayer menu, head to the Social tab
  2. Within the Social tab, use R1 or RB to scroll over to Party
  3. On the Party screen, press in the right stick (R3 on PS4, RS on Xbox One) to open the Party Privacy menu
  4. Scroll down to Invite Only, then press X on PS4, A on Xbox One, or click to confirm

The private party option used to be called Private. However, following recent updates, this option is now labeled Invite Only. Both settings are identical: They close access to your party or lobby, only allowing players in after they’ve been sent an invite by the party leader. Since you created the party, you’re the party leader.

If you’re mainly trying to keep random players out of your lobby, you may consider the Joinable by Friends setting. This way, anyone on your friends list can hop into your lobby, but strangers cannot. If you’re just trying to play alone, or if you’re sick of random invites, choose the Closed option.
