Watch Dogs: Legion online multiplayer will eventually be added to the game, with Ubisoft confirming its WDL multiplayer co-op feature despite it not being available to play at launch. So how can you play Watch Dogs: Legion multiplayer with friends, and how does it work?
How to play Watch Dogs: Legion multiplayer
Watch Dogs: Legion Online can be accessed from the game’s main menu, beneath its campaign.
While it currently hasn’t been introduced to the game, with only its single-player campaign available to play at launch and the option to go online greyed out (which isn’t the only issue players are facing with the game online), it will eventually be introduced in a future update.
Watch Dogs: Legion Online release date
Watch Dogs: Legion Online will be released on December 3, 2020, Ubisoft has confirmed.
This means that players won’t have to wait long to jump into the game’s multiplayer component, though they will have plenty of time to complete its single-player campaign before then. This means it will also be playable on the PS5 and Xbox Series X, with both next-gen consoles launching in November.
What is Watch Dogs: Legion multiplayer and how does it work?
Watch Dogs: Legion Online will allow up to four players to join forces in co-op with unique PvP modes also set to be added.
Here’s how Watch Dogs‘ online multiplayer will work:
- 4-player co-op
- Multiplayer-specific missions
- PvP modes
- Spiderbot Arena
- Invasion
- Free roam
Players will be able to select from these options in the dedicated online menu, with more missions and PvP modes likely set to be included in future updates.
Here are its multiplayer modes, explained:
Tactical Ops
Tactical Ops is Watch Dogs: Legion‘s co-op missions. These will consist of two-to-four player objectives with brand new co-op objectives, with players able to complete them as a team or simply run around the game’s open-world London with their friends.
Spiderbot Arena
Four-to-eight players take control of spider robots in free-for-all deathmatches, with the useful gadgets transformed into ruthless killing missions that duke it out on an arena.
Invasion
This returning Watch Dogs multiplayer mode won’t be available at Watch Dogs: Legion Online‘s launch, but it is set to be added further down the line in a future update. It will allow players to invade other players’ worlds, hacking them while trying to remain anonymous as they’re hunted down.
