The folks over at Valve have confirmed that they won't be developing games exclusive to the SteamOS platform. Yes, that includes the long awaited Half-Life 3.
Speaking to IGN, Greg Comer from Valve said flat out that "you won’t see an exclusive killer app for SteamOS from us. We’re not going to be doing that kind of thing." Valve’s Anna Sweet went on to echo Comer's comment, saying, “Whenever we talk to third-party partners, we encourage them to put their games in as many places as possible, including not on our platforms.
"Because we think that customers are everywhere, and they want to put their games wherever customers are. That would go against our whole philosophy, to launch something that’s exclusive to SteamOS or Steam machines.”
Are you relieved by this news? Do you plan to buy into SteamOS anyway? Comment below and let us know.
