Nintendo’s Amiibo are a great way for fans to celebrate their favorite characters, but also to earn in-game rewards. As such, they’re a hot commodity in the world of collectibles and many people are eager to learn what new figures are coming out this year. So, here’s the latest on the Amiibo 2021 launch slate for Nintendo Switch.

Which Amiibo are releasing in 2021?

Amiibo 2021

Originally, Amiibo strictly featured first-party Nintendo characters. Now, however, third-party characters commonly appear; that’s a trend that will continue with many of the upcoming 2021 Amiibo releases.

Having launched alongside the excellent Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, Cat Mario and Cat Peach are available now.

It’s a big day for Amiibo on Friday, March 26, 2021. Three more characters launch in the Super Smash Bros. series, including the long-awaited Banjo & Kazooie Amiibo. Many collectors never thought they’d see the day, what with Xbox manufacturer Microsoft owning the property and all.

March 26 is also the Monster Hunter Rise release date. The game — a Nintendo Switch console exclusive — is launching alongside three tie-in Amiibo. These depict Magnamalo, the game’s premier monster, plus the Palamute and Palico companions.

At the time of writing, Nintendo hasn’t announced its Amiibo plans beyond the first quarter of 2021. More announcements are almost certain to follow, however, especially with several new Pokemon games due out this year.

New Pokemon Snap, Pokemon Briliant Diamond, and Shining Pearl (the latter two being Gen IV remakes) could each get their own dedicated Amiibo. No official word just yet, though, so stay tuned for updates.
