New Pokemon Snap: How to unlock the volcano level

The New Pokemon Snap volcano level is difficult to unlock, with some players struggling when it comes to unlocking it and therefore wondering if it’s outright not working. Fortunately, that isn’t the case — but the methods to get to it are weirdly vague. Here’s our guide on how to unlock the volcano level.

How to unlock the volcano level in Pokemon Snap

To unlock the volcano in New Pokemon Snap, you must follow these steps:

  1. Reach Research level 2 in the Sweltering Sands (Day)
  2. Take a photo of a glowing crystabloom in Sweltering Sands (Night)
  3. Rid Sweltering Sands (Day) of the dust devil

To find the glowing crystabloom in Sweltering Sands (Night), you must reach the area that contains the Lycanroc in their Midnight Form. After passing this area, you will be asked to scan your surroundings, with the glowing crystabloom appearing on your right. This is just before you drop down into the final area with the sleeping Onyx. Take a photo of the glowing crystabloom and get it evaluated by Professor Mirror at the end of the level to unlock Illumina Orbs on Voluca Island.

After unlocking the Orbs, go back to Swelterning Sands in the daytime. When you approach the dust devil in the beginning stages of the map, you will see three crystablooms encircling it. Throw the Orbs into each Crystabloom in order to clear the dust devil, at which point a Flygon will appear out of the center of it. Complete the level and have your photos evaluated.

After doing all of the above, Professor Mirror will inform you that he has some news for you, before revealing that you can now travel to New Pokemon Snap’s volcano level. You have now unlocked the volcano level.

New Pokemon Snap players have also been wondering how to fix a bug where their requests aren’t working. There has also been speculation that Mewtwo appears in the game.
