Twitter ‘Aliens’ and ‘UFOs’ Trends Explained: Ex-Pentagon staff says they exist

A new interview on 60 Minutes by CBS News has sent Twitter “Aliens” and “UFOs” searches trending, as the report claims that not only are UFOs real but that the government has admitted they are. The interview is with Luis Elizondo, the former head of the Pentagon’s UFO investigations team, with additional input from former pilots, but why has this interview sparked renewed interest in the UFOs argument?

What are the Twitter Aliens and UFOs trends about?

The renewed interest in UFOs and Aliens on Twitter is down to the 60 Minutes interview with Luis Elizondo, a 20-year veteran of covert military intelligence operations and former head of the Pentagon’s UFO investigation team, where he says that the government has already admitted that UFOs are real. He also says that the important questions are actually “what is it? What are its intentions? What are its capabilities?”

In 2008, Elizondo was put in charge of the Pentagon’s Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, or “AATIP,” a $22 million program. Elizondo focused on the reports of unidentified aerial phenomena, or UAPs, by service members and the national security implications of these phenomena.

Former Navy pilot Lieutenant Ryan Graves was also part of the interview, who commented that not only have pilots seen UFOs/UAPs, but pilots training off the Atlantic coast see phenomena like this “every day for at least a couple of years.” The interview goes through recently released footage by the navy of UFOs picked up on infrared camera, including talking to the naval aviators speaking in the footage, who suggest the object was “mirroring” their maneuvers. Elizondo was the one who pushed to have these videos declassified, although not before the Pentagon cut AATIP’s funding due to skepticism over their findings.

Twitter, of course, reacted to this statement that UFOs are real in the usual manner.

For more news on aliens, the Mass Effect Legendary Edition is out now. It may not be the perfect way to experience the Mass Effect saga for any fans of mods, but at least it offers players the chance to take the fight to the Reapers in Legendary or Classic modes.
