Sonic Colors Ultimate 60 FPS 4K

Sonic Colors Ultimate announced with a 2021 release date

During Sonic Central, the Sonic Colors Ultimate remastered version was announced with a 2021 release date. Having a game revealed and launching in the same year will be exciting for fans of the blue hedgehog. Like Sonic, the reveal was fast and easy-to-miss, so here’s a recap of the info.

Sonic Colors Ultimate release date and supported platforms

Sonic Colors Ultimate 60 FPS 4K

The Sonic Colors Ultimate release date is September 7, 2021.

Sonic Colors Ultimate is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Support for next-gen systems, such as the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, hasn’t yet been confirmed. This means that console owners might not see a 4K 60 FPS remaster like they had perhaps hoped. However, the game is likely to prioritize 60 FPS across all platforms as most Sonic games do. Fast movement needs that high frame-rate to keep visuals looking smooth and inputs responsive.

As with other games targeting last-gen hardware, it’s possible that next-gen support with be added later down the line.

Of course, PC players will be able to set the game’s resolution and frame-rate to whatever they like. The Epic Games Store is listed as the PC store that the new Sonic Colors remaster will be coming to, so it’s possible that it will be an exclusive.

Those who pre-order the game will receive a Baby Sonic keychain, while the Digital Deluxe version includes early access, exclusive music, gold and silver wearable, exclusive player icons, and a “Sonic Movie Boost.”

Here’s a throwback to when the first Sonic The Hedgehog movie was announced. This was before Sonic’s design was changed for the better.

Despite rumors saying Sonic’s redesign cost $35 million to pull off, that wasn’t the case.

Have a gander at this Sonic Lego collection which features a giant Dr. Robotnik character. (Sadly, Lego Jim Carrey is missing from the set.)
