Horizon Forbidden West recently got an extended gameplay trailer that’s stirring up a lot of excitement. Although the footage debuted on a PlayStation State of Play stream, Nintendo Switch fans are wondering if they can get in on the action. So, will there be a Horizon Forbidden West Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite version? What about a Nintendo Switch Pro port further down the line? Here’s the lowdown on all of the supported HFW platforms.
Is Horizon Forbidden West coming to Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite?
Horizon Forbidden West is coming to PS5 and PS4, with a target launch window of 2021. Guerrilla Games’ sequel is not coming to Switch or Switch Lite, as there’s no Horizon Forbidden West Nintendo Switch release date.
PlayStation manufacturer Sony owns the Horizon series and its developer. As a result, it’s unlikely that HFW will reach a rival platform and support a competitor. There’s also the technical side of things to consider; Horizon Forbidden West is a visually impressive game, which, realistically, the Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite probably can’t handle.
Is Horizon Forbidden West coming to Nintendo Switch Pro?
The Horizon Zero Dawn sequel, Forbidden West, is coming to current PlayStation platforms. There is no Horizon Forbidden West Nintendo Switch Pro release date.
At the time of writing, rumors suggest that the Nintendo Switch Pro might be revealed imminently. This upgraded version of the popular hybrid console could be capable of running Horizon Forbidden West. Although the Switch Pro isn’t likely to be as powerful as a PS5, it’s important to remember that HFW is coming to PS4 as well. That version could potentially port over without the need for significant (if any) downgrades.
Naturally, Nintendo having a platform that can run the new Horizon game doesn’t mean Sony will jump on it. In fact, it’s still highly unlikely that a Horizon Forbidden West Nintendo Switch Pro version will happen. It’d be like PlayStation sharing its exclusives with Xbox — which isn’t gonna happen.
