Will Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite be on Xbox One?

Two of Xbox’s biggest exclusives, Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite, are finally releasing this year. Both games are due to launch towards the end of 2021, and are heavily marketed as Xbox Series X/S releases. But will Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite be on Xbox One?

Will Forza Horizon 5 release on Xbox One?

Forza Horizon 5

Yes, Forza Horizon 5 will come out on Xbox One upon release. This was confirmed in the game’s announcement trailer from the Xbox E3 conference, which promised versions of the game on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.

Equally, the game is releasing day one on Xbox Game Pass. This means subscribers to the service will be able to play the game without directly purchasing it. However, due to the restrictions of Xbox One hardware compared to the newer consoles, that version of the game will likely be graphically inferior.

The solution to this could be the xCloud service, also announced during E3. This cloud service allows Xbox One owners to stream over Series X|S games. Therefore, the potential is there for the next-gen version of Forza Horizon 5 to still be playable on older hardware.

Will Halo Infinite release on Xbox One?

Halo Infinite

Very similar to Forza Horizon 5, Halo Infinite will release on Xbox One. This was confirmed in 2019 by development director Frank O’Connor, promising the game would be playable on the two generations of current Xbox consoles.

Equally, Halo Infinite is a day-one Game Pass release, meaning it’ll also be available at no extra charge to subscribers. We also know the game will have xCloud support – so technically, Xbox One owners will be able to stream over the Series X|S versions.

In other news, Cyberpunk 2077 is heading back onto the PlayStation Store this month, after its removal in December. It’s also confirmed that the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy game won’t tie into Marvel’s Avengers game.
