How does Snapchat know what time I was born?
Snapchat knows what time users are born from the Astrological Birthday setting.
After an update during late 2020, users found a strange purple icon beneath their profile image. This purple button led to an “Astrological Birthday” setting which asked for a date, time, and place of birth. Once the information had been entered, an accurate Astrological Profile was shown.
The default time shown in the Astrological Birthday section is the current time. During GameRevolution’s testing, the app was opened at 8:09 AM. Therefore, the Astrological Birthday section showed 8:09 AM.
Those believing Snapchat knows what time they were born likely set their birth time in the Astrological Birthday tab many months ago and forgot about it. Now they are rediscovering it and growing concerned.
Don’t worry, Snapchat does not magically know a user’s birth time.
How to change your date of birth on Snapchat
To change your date of birth on Snapchat, users must do the following:
- Hit the Profile button in the top-left corner of the screen.
- Select the Cog icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
- Under “My Account” select “Birthday.”
- Select “My Astrological Birthday.”
- Change the time and hit “Complete.”
