A Dino Crisis remake release date is something fans have been hoping to hear for years. Unfortunately, unlike Resident Evil, Capcom’s dinosaur-centric survival horror franchise has gone dormant for almost two decades. So will we see a remake of the original Dino Crisis anytime soon? Will there be a Dino Crisis remake release date?
There’s no official Dino Crisis remake release date right now. A remake of the original or continuation of the series would be an excellent move for Capcom as previous remakes of its properties have done really well. However, aside from some comments about being open to the idea, Capcom hasn’t committed to supporting the series further. So, even if it is in the works, we likely won’t see it for a while. As such, it’ll probably be a current-gen exclusive.
Dino Crisis 3 was very poorly received, for good reason. It basically ignored previous games in the series in favor of a story set in the 26th century aboard a spaceship. The game was initially supposed to be set in a current-day city, but during development, the September 2001 terrorist attack on New York City occurred. As a result of the tragedy, many games in production were tweaked, canceled, or drastically altered. Dino Crisis 3 was one of the latter, as the developers didn’t want dinosaurs rampaging through a city and bringing down skyscrapers.
Apparently, the poor reception of Dino Crisis 3 was enough to put the series on ice. Since then, Capcom has acknowledged the character of Regina, who starred in the first two games. She’s made some cameos in other titles, but the Dino Crisis franchise itself is dormant. Part of the reason behind this might be because of how hard it would be to recreate the original game with modern technology. Creating a dinosaur with modern graphics and animations would be a lot tougher than it was back in 1999. Making them look convincing and scary, writing AI, and also making sure their interactions with the player are challenging but fair.
