Disney Illusion Island

Disney Illusion Island Release Window Announced, Has Couch Co-op

Disney Illusion Island, the first game in the Disney & Marvel Games showcase that aired earlier today, has revealed its debut trailer featuring Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Donald Duck. The 2D platformer will be developed for the Nintendo Switch by Dlala Studios, who is most well known for the reboot of the Battletoads beat-’em-up. The very tentative release date for Disney Illusion Island is TBD 2023. You can head to the Nintendo eShop and place it on your wishlist starting today.

Disney Illusion Island will be couch co-op only

The brief, one-minute trailer shows off the four Disney mascots having to navigate the world of Mannoth to retrieve the Glyphs of Knowledge. These magical books that sustain the island have been stolen, and Mickey and friends are on the case to grab them back. They will need to traverse the three biomes of Illusion Island by timing swings correctly, swimming through lakes, and jumping off walls with precision.

AJ Grand-Scrutton, the CEO and co-founder of Dlala Studios, elaborates in an IGN interview that the game will be couch co-op, though it doesn’t seem as though it will have online co-op at this time. Each character in the game will have his or her own items and abilities that will compliment team members.

It’s unclear if Disney Island Illusion will be ported to other consoles other than the Switch, but it does look very appropriate for the family-friendly console.

In other news, Steam Deck repair centers are now open and will do battery placements, and Eidos Montreal now owns the Deus Ex and Thief franchises.
