Persona 5 Director Comments on Atlus Sale to Sega, Effects on Development

In a blog post on the Persona website, series director Katsura Hashino wrote briefly on how the sale of Index Corporation, the developer's former parent company, affected the development status of Persona 5.

Hashino relates that while the ordeal left a lot in the air, especially as several companies made bids, the transaction has gone smoothly and allowed unimpeded development of Persona 5.

To all the fans, Hashino apologized for any worries they may have had for the future of the franchise. Hashino said that he was always confident that he could still continue working on the brand, but that some uncertainty got to him.

Hashino said that they're aiming to excel beyond the memorable experiences they've given fans in the past and that he'll continue striving towards those lofty goals with continued fan support.

Persona 5 publisher Atlus was sold to Sega Sammy Holdings for somewhere in the ballpark of $140 million. The company communicated with fans that the transition allowed all projects to continue development smoothly, but I guess Hashino wanted to personally thank Persona fans for their patience.

While nothing has been announced, we think Atlus should go exploring Sega's library of licenses for a few new games. Here are 5 Sega franchises Atlus should develop next.
