Uncharted Writer Leaves Naughty Dog [Update: Sony and Naughty Dog Comment]

[Update] Sony’s Scott Rohde spoke to IGN in an effort to clear the air regarding Hennig's supposedly dramatic departure.

Amy’s one of my favorite people. [I] love Amy. How can you not love Amy, right? [She was] an amazing contributor to Naughty Dog and PlayStation. I’m always going to have the deepest admiration for her. But things change, and sometimes change involves very high profile individuals. That’s all that’s happened here. There’s nothing else. There’s no more to dig at.

In addition, Naughty Dog's Evan Walls and Christophe Balestra released a statement on the matter, emphasizing that Hennig was not "forced out" as previously reported.

We feel it necessary to clear up a very important point that was unprofessionally misreported when the story broke. Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann were NOT involved in what transpired.

There is nothing left to be said on this subject. Now we’re going back to what we should be focused on – making games.

[Original] Amy Hennig, the writer behind the Uncharted series, including the upcoming entry on PlayStation 4, has left Naughty Dog.

A company rep confirmed the news to IGN, saying, "We can confirm that Amy Hennig has left Naughty Dog. Amy has made significant contributions to the game industry and we appreciate all she has done for Naughty Dog. The development timeline of Uncharted will not be impacted."

Trusted sources also told the outlet that Hennig was apparently "forced out" so that Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley, who worked on The Last of Us, could take control of the Uncharted franchise from here on out. Whether that is true remains to be seen, as neither Sony nor Naughty Dog have explained the reason behind her departure.

Are you concerned about the future of Uncharted now that Hennig is no longer at the helm?
