Transistor Release Date Set for May on PS4 and PC

Transistor, the next game from Bastion developers Supergiant Games, will be out on PlayStation 4 and PC May 20th, 2014.

The release date comes via a blog post on the developer's website where Supergiant boss Greg Kasavin says "We've been putting the finishing touches on [Transistor] and think it's just about ready."

Like GameRevolution staffers Anthony Severino, Gil Almogi, and Alex Osborn, Supergiant Games will also be attendance at PAX East this weekend in Boston. "Several of us from Supergiant will be taking a short break from development to show you some of our latest progress," Kasavin writes. "We'll have a near-final build of the game running on the PlayStation 4, which you'll be able to get your hands on at our booth 892."

We've previewed Transistor twice. From Alex Osborn's PAX EAST 2013 preview:

The world of Transistor is an absolute delight to behold. While the game's story was lost on me during my few minutes with the demo, its aesthetic made me forget my worrires. If you're looking for an artistic showpiece that's also a complete blast to play, make a mental note to look out for Supergiant's next big thing early next year.

From Vince Ingenito's E3 2013 preview:

Aiding in both the atmosphere and the tactical depth, enemies sport widely varied looks and behaviors. In just 15 minutes I faced off against at least four different enemy types, and each introduced interesting variables to the equation. The tripedal “Creeps” resurrect if the cell they drop after death isn't retrieved in time, while the cunning “Young Lady” creates a shadow copy of itself when predictably attacked and showers the field with attack drones upon death. Each of these elements fits together well, making combat just as stimulating mentally as it is visually.

I can't wait to get my hands on the next downloadable from Supergiant, but lucky PAX goers can try it out this weekend, over a month in advance. Are you going to Boston's big gaming convention?
