Yoshida on the Likelihood of PlayStation 5: “We’ll See”

Despite the fact that PlayStation 4 is only a few months old, Shuhei Yoshida, the president of Sony Worldwide Studios, has come forward to share his thoughts on the possibility of Sony ever releasing a PlayStation 5.

"It’s really up to the game creators," Yoshida told Re/code. "If they still feel that we need more machine power – ‘We want to realize this and that and that, but we cannot do [it] with PS4′ – if that’s the case, there’s a good reason to have PS5, so that developers can create their vision. So, we’ll see."

With Sony currently taking a more service-focused approach with the upcoming launch of PlayStation Now, we may be looking at the end of the traditional home console model, especially if it branches out to televisions, smart devices, etc. Do you think PS4 will be the last of a dying breed?
