Xbox Music Coming to the 360 This Fall [Update]

[Update] This is why you have to be very clear with facts when writing. I'm not talking about me, I'm talking about the guy who bullet-pointed Steve Ballmer's recent speech for Business Insider (the source of this information). He's given a "correction" via Twitter, saying that this Xbox Music isn't coming, but Kinect voice-recognition is. What he meant to say was "Xbox. Music.", the command you'll be speaking to your Kinect to use it.

See! Missing a period isn't just important when it's your girlfriend.

Here's the correction below, followed by the story we posted originally.

Correction: An earlier version of this story mistakenly said that Microsoft is launching a new music service called Xbox Music this fall. This is wrong. Users (in some geographies) can already access 11 million songs on the Zune Marketplace via Xbox Live, and this service is not changing. What's coming this fall is voice commands through Kinect, and the way to get that music is to say "Xbox. Music." So that's the command, not a new name service.

[Original Story] The Xbox 360 has had music integrated into its Dashboard for some time via Zune. But now that the Zune is all but dead, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has revealed plans to bring 'Xbox Music' to the 360 this Fall.

When it does launch this Fall, it will bring over 11 million downloadable songs to the console, all searchable using your voice through Kinect.

Fall is also the time when Microsoft will be rolling out a new Xbox 360 Dashboard update, which will likely enable this new music service.

We'll provide more details as they become available.
