Did She-Hulk Episode 8 Tease Red Hulk for the MCU?

With She-Hulk episode 8 now out on Disney Plus, fans are busy geeking out over the appearance of Daredevil/Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) in costume since his Netflix show ended, but a She-Hulk Red Hulk Easter egg may point towards the arrival of a major Marvel character in the MCU. Did you catch it?

Was there a She-Hulk Red Hulk Easter egg?

The She-Hulk Red Hulk tease happens towards the end of the episode after Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) spends the night with Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and just following the arrival of her friend Nikki Ramos (Ginger Gonzaga). Jennifer breaks the fourth wall and asks the audience why the episode isn’t over yet, wondering if there’s another twist in the story. The twist she suggests is “there’s another Hulk, but this one’s red.”

This is a clear reference to General Thaddeus Ross, the main enemy of Bruce Banner’s Incredible Hulk and who becomes the villain (or occasional anti-hero) known as Red Hulk. Ross became the Red Hulk in Hulk comics around 2008, although his identity was initially kept a mystery and it would be several years before Ross was revealed. Like She-Hulk, Ross kept his intelligence as Red Hulk and proved more powerful than Banner’s Hulk or the Avengers, and even killed Emil Blonsky’s Abomination.

In the MCU, General Ross is played by William Hurt and has appeared in The Incredible Hulk, Captain America: Civil War, and last year’s Black Widow — which was set just after the events of Civil War, so technically Ross hasn’t been seen in the Marvel universe since before Thanos and the Snap. If the She-Hulk Easter egg is a tease, he could return as Red Hulk in the MCU in a future project. Marvel has already dropped hints about a Dark Avengers movie that Red Hulk would be ideal for, so it’s simply a matter of waiting for Marvel to tease him again now.
