[Update] Sony has announced that the upcoming movie based on Naughty Dog's Uncharted series will release on June 10th, 2016.
According to a report from Deadline, the studio is hoping to get Mark Wahlberg to play the lead role. Do you think Marky Mark will be able to capture the charm and wit of Nathan Drake? Who would be your first choice to play the film's leading man?
[Original] Despite the fact that it doesn't yet have a leading man, the upcoming film based on Naughty Dog's super-popular Uncharted series is set to start filming early next year. According to the film's director, Seth Gordon, the script is in "a really good place."
"I want it to be a great actor," Gordon said in an interview with zap2it when asked about the casting of Nathan Drake. "That’s number one, and then if it’s someone who has an actual jaw, that’s even better. The game is so well done that you need it to live up to that. There’s no way we’d do the inverse of that where it’s somebody famous who can’t [act]."
Fans of the PlayStation-exclusive franchise will be pleased to know Gordon plans to "honor the mythology of the game [through the] most interesting stuff from the first one and build from there." That said, however, the film will include "some stuff that isn’t in the game.”
Who do you think should play Nathan Drake in the upcoming movie? Do you think it stands a chance of being one of the few game-to-movie adaptations that is actually good?
