Microsoft: Rise of the Tomb Raider’s Xbox Exclusivity “Has a Duration,” Coming to Both Xbox 360 and Xbox One

Microsoft caused quite a stir yesterday at gamescom when it announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider would be coming exclusively to Xbox in 2015. PlayStation fans weren't particularly happy about the news, and gamers everywhere wondered whether this was merely a timed exclusive deal or something more permanent.

Head of Xbox Phil Spencer has clarified the whole situation, telling Eurogamer that Rise of the Tomb Raider's Xbox exclusivity "has a duration." Not only that, but it looks like the game will be coming to both Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

"Yes, the deal has a duration. I didn't buy it. I don't own the franchise," Spencer told the outlet. "I have Tomb Raider shipping next holiday exclusively on Xbox. It is Xbox 360 and Xbox One. I'm not trying to fake anybody out in terms of where this thing is. What they do with the franchise in the long run is not mine. I don't control it."

So there you have it. I'm sure we'll be seeing Rise of the Tomb Raider on PlayStation platforms and PC in 2016.
