The release date for Chrono Odyssey on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S is up in the air. Developer Chrono Studio has shown off a new, rather impressive gameplay trailer that has caught the eye of many fans. Some might have even been fooled into thinking that it’s a sequel to Chrono Cross or Chrono Trigger too. While the trailer is new, though, the MMORPG has actually been in development and in various stages of testing for some time now.
What is the Chrono Odyssey release date?
Mysteriously, there is no official release date for Chrono Odyssey for PC via Steam, PS5, or Xbox Series X|S. However, we speculate that it will be 2024.
According to MMORPG, Chrono Odyssey originally planned to go into testing during 2021 with an intended release date of 2023. That’s not looking likely, considering that this new gameplay trailer does not have any release date at all. This is why 2024 is looking like a safer bet here.
There’s even a possibility that the game won’t be ready until 2025, given that an MMORPG like this might require more than a few alpha or beta tests. This would be done to make sure that the servers for a game this massive in scale and size will be ready for launch, especially if Chrono Odyssey is planning to have cross-platform play across PC and consoles.
The game’s open world of Setera was made in Unreal Engine 5, so there will likely need to be quite a lot of testing on PC to make sure that multiple rigs can run Chrono Odyssey at a high, consistent frame rate without stuttering. The world has dynamic weather and environments based on the season, so it looks like there will be many particle effects and graphical details that will push GPUs to the limit.
