A Payday 3 Switch release date would give players the opportunity to delve into this bank-robbing multiplayer shooter on the go. Many are wondering if the game is coming out on Nintendo Switch, so here’s everything we know.
Is Payday 3 coming out on Switch?
Payday 3 hasn’t been confirmed for a Switch release.
The game’s official Twitter account noted that the Starbreeze Studios hasn’t announced a Switch version. “Announced” gives Starbreeze some leeway, as that’s not an outright denial. Payday 2 also was released on the Switch in 2018, much later than many of the other ports, so the team has at least some precedent of putting out the Switch version much later.
However, Payday 2 was developed on much older hardware; it was initially released in 2013. A game from that era would work more naturally on the Switch, while its sequel from a decade later might be more trouble. Payday 3 is skipping the previous generation entirely, too, and only coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Is there a Payday 3 Switch release date?
There is no Payday 3 Switch release date.
There is no release date because it hasn’t been confirmed for the Switch. As was previously noted, the team said no Switch port has been announced. And while that could lead to one down the line, the relative age of the Switch may play a factor in Starbreeze’s heist game skipping Nintendo’s portable this time around.
The game’s description reads:
“Payday 3 is the much anticipated sequel to one of the most popular co-op shooters ever. Since its release, Payday-players have been reveling in the thrill of a perfectly planned and executed heist. That’s what makes Payday a high-octane, co-op FPS experience without equal. Step out of retirement back into the life of crime in the shoes of the Payday Gang, the envy of their peers and the nightmare of law-enforcement wherever they go. Several years after the crew’s reign of terror over Washington DC has ended, they assemble once again to deal with the threat that roused them out of early retirement.”
