Although it’s still in early access, The Outlast Trials has been selling pretty well, and the developer is now working on bringing the co-op survival horror game to Xbox and PlayStation.
To current and previous gen, as well
A recent post on Steam from developer Red Barrels gives a pretty detailed overview of what’s to come in Outlast Trials. Among other things, such as a big Halloween update and addressing some issues with the game, the team is also looking to port the title to modern consoles.
The post, written by the game’s director Alex, specifically says that the studio is “actively working” on fulfilling this major fan request.
As such, it’s looking like the latest installment in the Outlast series will be heading to Xbox Series X|S and PS5, but also for previous gen systems, including the Xbox One and PS4.
On top of that, Red Barrels is also looking to implement crossplay, which will mean console users will be able to play with those on PC.
At the moment, there is no release date for the console version of Outlast Trials, but Alex assures everyone that “progress is promising.” It looks as though a 2024 launch for Xbox and PlayStation is on the horizon rather than 2023 “due to the challenges faced by our small team.”
Since releasing to early access in May, The Outlast Trials has received a warm reception from players, with the game currently showing as “Very Positive” on Steam. Now, fans can look forward to the disturbing horror game coming to current and previous gen systems.
