The Mortal Kombat 1 voice actors have brought life to NetherRealm Studios’ newest title. Not all of them are reprising their roles from past games, though, so there are some new faces to the Mortal Kombat franchise. Here’s who is in the MK1 cast and what they are most famous for.
Who is in the MK1 cast?
The Mortal Kombat 1 cast is slightly different than a game like Immortals of Aveum, as the facial model and voice actor are often two different people. The game also doesn’t specify who voiced what character in the credits, as noted by the above picture.
Daisuke Tsuji played Scorpion in the game. He is most known for the English voice of Ghost of Tsushima’s Jin Sakai.
Vincent Rodriguez III played Raiden. Rodriguez is most known for his role as Josh in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
Kaiji Tang voices Sub-Zero. Tang has been in a few anime shows and games, and was even Jin Kazama in Netflix’s Tekken: Bloodline.
Kari Wahlgren has returned to voice Kitana and Mileena in Mortal Kombat 1. She voiced both in Mortal Kombat 11, and also played Starfire in Injustice 2.
Matthew Yang King returned to play Liu Kang. King also played Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat 11, as well as Kerry Eurodyne in Cyberpunk 2077.
Steve Blum has returned to voice Baraka. Blum is known for extensive voice acting history, which includes playing Spike in Cowboy Bebop, White in Neon White, and even Sub-Zero in Mortal Kombat X and Mortal Kombat 11.
Andrew Bowen has also returned to play Johnny Cage. He played Cage in Mortal Kombat X and Mortal Kombat 11 and Todd Bozeman in Catherine.
Vic Chao voiced Kenshi. He is known for his work in Mortal Kombat X where he played Kenshi, Goro, and Sektor.
Noshir Dalal played Rain in Mortal Kombat 11. He is known for playing Charles Smith in Red Dead Redemption 2, Bode Akuna in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and Khalil in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.
Megan Fox played Nitara in Mortal Kombat 1. She is known for her live-action acting, and has been in 2007’s Transformers and Jennifer’s Body.
Mara Junot has returned to voice Sindel. She played the character in Mortal Kombat 11.
Alan Lee voiced Shang Tsung. Lee has mostly had smaller roles in other video games like Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion. Photos of him are not widely available.
Sunil Malhotra has come back to voice Kung Lao. He voiced the character in Mortal Kombat 11, as well as CNMN from Hi-Fi Rush and Jun in Halo: Reach.
Derek Phillips voiced Reiko. Phillips has voiced some smaller characters, as well as Wade Jackson in Call of Duty: Vanguard.
Cherise Boothe voiced Tanya. She played Janel Braddock in Agents of Mayhem, Sojourn in Overwatch 2, and Dr. Lorelei Da Costa in Starfield.
Jacob Craner played Havik. He has mainly played smaller parts in various video games, but provided the voice for Baron Von Rose in Lego 2K Drive.
Susan Eisenberg voiced Ashrah. Eisenberg played the female voice for the protagonist in Destiny 2, Councilor Irissa in Mass Effect, and Wonder Woman in Injustice 2.
Kelly Hu played Li Mei. Hu has been in many films and games and was even the voice for D’Vorah in Mortal Kombat 11 and Mortal Kombat X and Sindel and Frost in Mortal Kombat X. She’ll even be Ashrah again in Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match.
Phil LaMarr is returning to voice Geras. LaMarr has been a ton of games and features and has been Marvin in Pulp Fiction, Hermes Conrad in Futurama, Samurai Jack as the titular character, Kotal Kahn in Mortal Kombat X and Mortal Kombat 11, and Aquaman and Green Lantern in the Injustice games.
Yuri Lowenthal voiced Smoke. Lowenthal has also been a prevalent voice actor, as he’s been Spider-Man in Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man games, Ben Tennyson in Ben 10, the Prince of Persia in many of the Prince of Persia games, and Chandlo Funkbun in Bugsnax.
Andrew Morgado voiced Reptile. Morgado has been various small roles in other video games like Saints Row and The Callisto Protocol.
Ike Amadi is once again Shao Kahn, reprising his role from Mortal Kombat 11. Amadi has played Atrocitus in Injustice 2 and Knack in the Knack series.
There are some Hollywood stars in the game, too. Jean-Claude Van Damme is playing his premium skin of Johnny Cage, John Cena is reprising his role as Peacemaker, and J.K. Simmons will once again be Omni-Man from Invincible, the latter two of whom will be full DLC fighters in the future.
