Figuring out The First Descendant unlock new characters process can be difficult if you’re a new player, especially during the crossplay beta. While you can select your first character for free between Lepic, Viessa, and Ajex, the other descendants are locked behind a somewhat confusing crafting system. The beta features a total of 13 characters, and with the exception of your starting character and Bunny, you’ll need to grind out the majority of the materials you need to get the other descendants on the roster. Here’s how to unlock new heroes in Nexon‘s The First Descendant for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
How to get all The First Descendent characters
The process to unlock all characters in the game requires you to farm or purchase materials unique to each descendant and then use them to complete research by speaking with Magister Anais in the main hub area of Albion.
Each descendant you don’t have unlocked will require you to craft the character’s Enhanced Cells, Stabilizer, Code, and Spiral Catalyst. While some of these items can be obtained by purchasing them from the Descendant Material Shop using Caliber currency, others are found by grinding missions. Researching each of these items will require a lot of time (e.g. 12 hours) and 100,000 gold (reduced from 300,000 gold for the beta).
To make this easier, you can click on the specific item you need and open the acquisition window to figure out where you can farm the item. You can also check the mission map and highlight various missions to see whether there’s a chance for them to drop items related to character unlocks. Fortunately, as you complete missions and grind materials, you’ll improve your mastery rank on the side.
As for Bunny, you’ll earn the items you need to unlock her just by completing the first handful of tutorial missions, namely the Bunny Crafting Training Stage. We’re not sure if it will so easy to get Bunny in the full release. She’s at least one of the most popular characters in the game thus far.
