Oddly, we haven’t seen more new Sims-like games over the years. While other popular genres like battle royales, Souls-likes, and Metroidvanias have been flooded with imitators – some good, some bad – we’ve never seen a clone of The Sims. However, that’s about to change, as at least three major Sims-like titles are slated to release in the next year alone.
Upcoming Sims-like game release dates
Three upcoming Sims-like games might just upset The Sims 4’s hold on the Life Sim genre. They’re all projected to launch sometime in 2024, but we expect at least one or two will slip into 2025 or beyond.
Life by You
Release Date: March 5, 2024 (Early Access)
Life by You intends to be community-oriented with plenty of support for mods. There’ll be support to expand nearly every aspect of the game and create new objects, interactions, careers, and more. So far, it looks like the devs intend to emphasize customization and complex interactions between the Sims and their environments, which might make it a bit more hands-on than The Sims.
Paralives
Release Date: TBA
If you’re looking for something that sticks closer to the gameplay in The Sims, keep your eye on Paralives. This life sim has a unique, cel-shaded art style and focuses on managing a household and the age cycle of your simulated people. The release date for this one is unknown, but it’s been in development for four years, so we’ll hopefully see it soon.
Inzoi
Release Date: Late 2024
South Korean studio Krafton surprised us with the reveal of Inzoi, which looks to go way beyond The Sims as far as interactivity and life simulation. The game runs on Unreal Engine 5, and the visuals blow the other games on this list out of the water. However, reports from those who have beta-tested the game indicate that its overall options may be more limited compared to The Sims and other games on this list. Hopefully, this isn’t the case, and we’ll see the game get more content added before launch.
