Pokemon Go players wonder if Buzzwole can be shiny as it joins this week’s raid lineup. Given how rare this creature is, players will want to get a shiny Buzzwole if it’s available. However, in Pokemon Go, you never know when a shiny form is available, as many Pokemon are released without it.
Can you catch Shiny Buzzwole in Pokemon Go?
Shiny Buzzwole isn’t available in Pokemon Go. That’ll be a relief to some players since it can cost quite a few Remote Raid Passes before a shiny pops up. So, if you’ve caught a few regular Buzzwoles, you’re good to go for now. Niantic will inevitably introduce Shiny Buzzwole at some point but now’s not the time.
When has Buzzwole been available in Pokemon Go?
Buzzwole is one of the rarer creatures in Pokemon Go right now. It’s only been available in raids once before:
- Special Raid Challenge: November 27, 2022.
It has been primarily attainable from Special and Timed Researches:
- Ultra Incursion: Buzzwole – August 27, 2022, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Ultra Beast Arrival: Win 4 Raids – November 27, 2022, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
You can catch it from January 1-10, 2024, and you’ll want to grab it ASAP, given how rarely it’s catchable.
Is Buzzwole a Pokemon?
Buzzwole is an Ultra Beast, a confusing category of Pokemon exclusive to Pokemon Sun/Moon and Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon. Ultra Beasts are Pokemon from Ultra Space, which have passed into the primary universe through Ultra Wormholes. They tend to be much stronger than a typical wild Pokemon and have a strange and ferocious look to them.
The Pokedex has this to say about Buzzwole:
“Buzzwole goes around showing off its abnormally swollen muscles. It is one kind of Ultra Beast.”
So, while Buzzwole might be an Ultra Beast, it’s also canonically a Pokemon.
