Destiny Confirms Guardian Progress Carries Over to Sequel

You and your Guardian have a connection. You've seen your Guardian through raids throughout the universe in your quest to revive The Traveler. You've taken on The Vex, The Cabal, The Hive, and other alien baddies. You've… well, you've formed a bond. But what happens when Destiny 2 ultimately comes out? Will you have to move on to see other Guardians?

No, sayeth Bungie! Let camaraderie rule!

Bungie has confirmed in an interview with IGN that players who built up a Guardian in Destiny will able to carry over that character's progress to the sequel, which Activision announced back in November.

“The idea is that the Guardian you have created is something you can bring along with you on that adventure,” stated Bungie's David Dague to IGN. “If you take a look at the way people have played other games for a long period of time, they've had a relationship with the same character for a very long time.”

What else did Dague confirm about the sequel? Nothing. Players will have to be satisfied for the time being with The Dark Below, the first expansion for the core game. Dague would not comment further on a sequel or even the next expansion, House of Wolves. He did tease, however, that he's seen some cool concepts around the Bungie studios.

“It's a lot of fun to walk around the studio,” said Dague, “because there's always somebody thinking about the next place you'll go, the next enemy you'll fight, the next thing that you'll earn for doing those things.”
