Germany. Land of beer, brat wursts, funny-sounding words like schnitzel, and as is the case with Gamescom, huge marketing set pieces. What the… is that a fighter jet?
Yes, Electronic Arts and DICE have brought a MIG 21 warplane to sit in the middle of their booth at Gamescom in promotion of Battlefield 3. Despite not showing off any fighter-jet gameplay, someone at EA thought it was right to tease us like this.
They were wrong. This is wrong.
The news report states that the MIG 21 was transported from Berlin to Cologne for a figure in the 10s of thousands of Euros. As one of the biggest gaming conventions open to the public, and the largest gaming convention in Europe, EA and DICE spared no expense in beefing up their booth for Battlefield 3. The wings were reportedly attached today. The jet will be on view from August 18th to August 21st.
