The Fortnite 5.2 patch notes are now available to read, detailing all of the changes that the new Fortnite update has made to the game. As well as the usual improvements to existing features, Save the World and Battle Royale players have additional content to be excited for. Once the downtime is over, all new features will be available to use and abuse in both the PvP and PvE components. These include the new double barrel shotgun, Steady Storm limited time mode, and more. Here’s a rundown of the Fortnite 5.2 patch notes highlights!
Fortnite 5.2 Patch Notes Update Highlights
As teased within the in-game “News” tab, a key highlight of the Fortnite 5.2 patch notes is the double barrel shotgun. Epic Games is adding this weapon during an interesting time, where the meta has been thoroughly shaken up with big shotgun nerfs. The double barrel is available in Epic and Legendary variants, and can be found from floor loot, chests, supply drops, and vending machines. According to Epic Games, it “delivers high burst damage at very close range, but damage falls off heavily at distance.” It also “fires 10 pellets like other shotguns, has a larger spread, lower critical damage multiplayer, and a cooldown time of two seconds when switching weapons.” Time will tell if this new Fortnite shotgun will be a viable option during close-quarters combat.
In addition to the Fortnite double barrel shotgun, Battle Royale players will also be able to enjoy the new Steady Storm limited time mode. This features one storm that closes in over the course of 15 minutes. What’s more, there are no safe zone circles, with players needing to keep an eye on the map to predict where the storm will close in. The storm does 10 damage per second. (K/D, wins, and challenges will all be tracked in this mode.)
Save the World players can now experience weekly “Horde Challenges Missions,” in addition to the new Mythic Ragnarok Outlander.
