Fortnite Gifting: End Date, iOS Gifting, How to Gift, and Everything You Need to Know

Wahoo! Fortnite gifting is here. After months of requests, Epic has finally pulled back the curtain to reveal that you’ll now be able to gift skins to friends for a limited time only. Below, we’ll show you how to gift, why you can’t gift on Fortnite on iOS, as well as the Fortnite gifting end date, as it’s not going to be around forever.

Fortnite Gifting Release Date and End Date

Fortnite gifting is available, drumroll please… right now! The 6.31 update went live on November 27 and is now accessible for users on Xbox One, PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Android.

However, this is very much going to be a short stay. Much like LTMs, the Fortnite gifting system is going away very soon. According to Epic’s post, we’ll only be able to gift skins and outfits for one week. So, if that’s the case, expect an end date of December 4.

How to Gift Skins in Fortnite

The general gifting system is pretty simple in and of itself. Go to the Item Shop on any platform (except iOS, more on that in a moment) and go to buy an item as you normally would. Now, instead of having just the option to purchase something with V-Bucks, you’ll also be able to gift it to a friend on your friend list via the “Buy As a Gift” option. Press that, select which friend you want to receive the gift, and they’ll get it the present next time they log on, if they aren’t logged on already.

However, there are a couple of caveats to be aware of: Firstly, you can’t gift skins to friends who have only been added within the last 48 hours. That’s to stop the possibility of account selling, one would assume. Additionally, you can only gift items currently in the Item Shop, and only a maximum of three times in 24 hours. So, no gifting rare skins, no matter how badly you want to give them to someone.

Why Can’t I Gift on iOS?

The reasoning for this is very straightforward, and is unlikely to be reversed anytime soon, if ever. As Epic states: “Gifting is not available on iOS devices because Apple’s policies prohibit it.”
