This is an exciting time for the fans of the 55-year-old franchise, as it will be featuring a female Doctor for the first time in its long history. Read on below to find out the Doctor Who release date.

Doctor Who Release Date: Doctor Who Season 11 Air Date

The official Doctor Who Twitter account, @bbcdoctorwho, announced the Doctor Who Season 11 air date earlier today. The first episode of the new Doctor Who Series 11 will arrive on October 7, 2018. Interestingly, this will also be the first time that the long-running franchise will be airing on Sundays. The TV show often aired on Saturdays in the past. Now everyone will be celebrating Doctor Who Sunday every week instead.

Additionally, BBC has also revealed the title of the hour-long episode launching the new season. It’s titled ‘The Woman Who Fell To Earth.’ It might possibly be a dedicated homage to the 1963 novel, The Man Who Fell To Earth, which was adapted into a movie in 1973 starring the late David Bowie. It could also be alluding to the fact that the Doctor was literally falling to Earth in a damaged TARDIS.

Last but not least, keep in mind that the Doctor Who 2018 release date varies by country, with BBC reminding everyone to check local listings for those outside of the UK. However, U.S. viewers will be happy to know that Doctor Who Season 11 air date will start at the same time as the UK debut on BBC America. The exact time of the air date has yet to be confirmed at the time of writing.
