Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is out now, and people are enjoying all the various modes, including the returning Zombies Mode. One of the highlights from Black Ops II‘s Zombies Mode, the beloved Mob of the Dead map, is back in Black Ops 4 re-imagined as “Blood of the Dead.” So, what’s changed in the new Black Ops 4 Mob of the Dead remake? Let’s have a look.
What is Mob of the Dead?
“Mob of the Dead” is a map for the Zombies Mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops II. It’s also called Alcatraz, due to it being set in the famous prison island. It was released in Black Ops II‘s Uprising DLC pack, and features four inmates escaping during the zombie outbreak. It’s a fan-favorite map due to its fun Easter Eggs and the cool “Afterlife” mechanic, where if downed you can leave your body to flip switches in out-of-reach areas.
What’s Changed in the New Black Ops 4 Mob of the Dead?
Mob of the Dead arrives in Black Ops 4 with a number of changes, beginning with the title, which is now “Blood of the Dead.” Instead of four convict characters to play as, players take on the roles of the original Zombies crew (also called the “Primis” team) of Tank Dempsey, Nikolai Belinski, Takeo Masaki, and Edward Richtofen. They are dressed in their outfits from Origins, another DLC map for Black Ops II‘s Zombies Mode.
For the most part the map is the same, but it has been expanded, adding several new areas to explore. The heavily-armored prison guard boss Brutus returns from Mob of the Dead, but the re-imagined map now also includes Hellhounds, who didn’t feature originally. It’s currently unknown if the Easter Eggs are the same, which may or may not include the song “Rusty Cage” by Johnny Cash like the original had. Give it a try and see if you can find it…
