Fallout 76 Passive Mode – How to Turn Off

As an online multiplayer game, Fallout 76 players want to experience both PvE and PvP modes. This isn’t possible, however, with the Fallout 76 passive mode switched on. Some players have been left feeling aggrieved that they cannot experience the full title with passive mode turned on. In that case, is there a way to turn passive mode off altogether?

Fallout 76 Passive Mode – What is Passive Mode?

Passive mode is an option added into games by some developers that allow players to experience their game worlds without killing or being killed. It lets gamers roam around free of fear regarding death – theirs or otherwise – and is a staple of many games these days.

The problem for Fallout 76 – and other online multiplayer titles – is that combat is a key component of the gameplay. Having passive mode enabled means that you’re missing out on plenty that the game has to offer, and can’t compete in certain modes or missions. While that isn’t the case in Fallout 76, it can affect the experience somewhat. Thankfully, there’s a way to resolve this issue for those who want a full-bloodied version of Fallout 76.

Fallout 76 Passive Mode – How do Turn it Off?

For those who want to manually turn passive mode off in Fallout 76, you can do so in the game’s settings sub-menu. Open that up, find the “gameplay” section, find “passive mode” under this subheading, and flick the setting to “off.” If you want to enable it, simply follow the above but flick the switch to “on.”

Fallout 76 developer Bethesda has also incorporated an auto-feature that turns passive mode off once you hit level five in the game. If you’re only diving back into the Fallout series after a while away, or if you’re worried that you’ll never be able to turn passive mode off, just know it’ll automatically be disabled once you hit this level landmark.
