Pokemon Go Leafeon and Glaceon | Nickname and How to Catch

Despite the recent arrival of Gen 4 Pokemon to Pokemon Go, Leafeon and Glaceon have now made their in-game appearances. There is even a Pokemon Go Leafeon and Glaceon nickname shortcut, as we’ve seen with the other evolutions. Here’s everything you need to know about Pokemon Go Leafeon and Glaceon, including how to catch Leafeon and Glaceon in Pokemon Go and the Pokemon Go Leafeon and Glaceon location.

Pokemon Go Leafeon and Glaceon – How to Catch Them

If you want to get a Pokemon Go Leafeon and Glaceon combo going, you’ll need to catch Eevees first. Eevee can be rare, but you’ll probably be able to attract some by using Lures. You can also pay attention to the weather-boosting mechanic in Pokemon Go, which causes certain types of Pokemon to appear more regularly depending on the weather. In Eevee’s case, you’re more likely to encounter one when it’s partially cloudy, as this is the weather that boosts Normal-type Pokemon.

Once you’ve gotten your Eevees, you’ll need to evolve them; however, they might not grow up to be the Eeveelution you originally wanted. Eevee randomly evolves into Vaporeon, Jolteon, or Flareon when you hit the “evolve” button. However, there are certain ways to get the Eeveelution you’re after.

Pokemon Go Leafeon and Glaceon Nickname – How to Evolve Eevee

If you give Eevee a specific nickname, it will evolve into the Eeveelution that corresponds to it. The nicknames are as follow:

  • Sparky for Jolteon
  • Rainer for Vaporeon
  • Pyro for Flareon
  • Sakura for Espeon
  • Tamao for Umbreon
  • Linnea for Leafeon
  • Rea for Glaceon

It’s important to note that this only works once for each Pokemon, so you can’t rinse and repeat it as many times as you like. After using the above names once, your Eevee will always evolve into Vaporeon, Jolteon, or Flareon randomly. However, there is a way you can get Espeon and Umbreon instead of the Gen 1 Eeveelutions without using the names listed above.

Pokemon Go Leafeon and Glaceon – How to Evolve Eevee into Espeon and Umbreon in Pokemon Go

If you want an Espeon or an Umbreon in Pokemon Go, you’ll need to do increase your friendship with them, which can be done by adhering to the following:

  • Make sure that you’ve chosen the Eevee you’re evolving as your Buddy.
  • Don’t change your Buddy at all, as this is detrimental to the friendship level.
  • Walk about 10 km with Eevee as your Buddy.
  • Wait until your Eevee has found a minimum of 2 Eevee candies.

If you want Espeon, hit the evolve button during the day. If Umbreon is the Pokemon you’re after, though, you’ll need to evolve your Eevee at night.

The reason this is important is because the Gen 2 Eeveelutions required something different than the original three. With this in mind, it’s likely that getting Leafeon and Glaceon from Gen 4 in Pokemon Go will require the player to meet certain prerequisites.

Pokemon Go Leafeon and Glaceon – How to Evolve Eevee into Leafeon and Glaceon in Pokemon Go

The Pokemon Go Leafeon and Glaceon launch will see the addition of the Grass and Ice-type Eeveelutions, respectively. In mainline Pokemon games, you’d have to level up near a Moss Rock in order to evolve Leafeon and near an Ice Rock for Glaceon. Bear in mind that Eevee in Pokemon Go doesn’t evolve in the same way as it does in other games, though, so you’ll likely be doing something slightly different.

While Espeon and Umbreon are gained by evolving Eevee at a certain time of day, Leafeon and Glaceon could be tied to the same weather-boosting mechanics mentioned earlier in the article. If that was the case, you’d get Leafeon in sunny and clear whether and Glaceon in snowy weather. This seems unlikely, though, as not everywhere in the world has access to environments in which these types of weather are commonplace.

As it stands, Leafeon and Glaceon will likely be added to Pokemon Go in the near future alongside some other Sinnoh Pokemon. How to get Leafeon and Glaceon will become clear soon afterwards and they’ll likely have their own nicknames for a sure evolution, too.

Pokemon Go Leafeon and Glaceon – Leafeon and Glaceon Leaked in Datamining Session

A recent datamining session has found information about Pokemon Go Leafeon and Glaceon as well as information about the possible release of Mantyke.

Buddy distance update for, Mantyke, Leafeon & Glaceon

The datamined code refers to the three Pokemon in question as Buddies. A trainer’s Buddy is a Pokemon that they choose to walk beside them, allowing that Pokemon to get extra Candy in exchange for walking certain distances. With the code above referring to Leafeon, Glaceon, and Mantyke as Buddy Pokemon in Pokemon Go, it seems that Niantic is laying the groundwork for a Pokemon Go Leafeon and Glaceon launch.

As of now, it is still currently unknown when Leafeon and Glaceon will be coming to Pokemon Go, but the next wave of Sinnoh Pokemon is long overdue at this stage. With increased numbers of Ice-type Pokemon set to appear throughout the Pokemon Go Winter event and the likelihood that the Pokemon Go Lake Trio will arrive in the popular mobile game soon, it seems that it’s only a matter of time before the two Gen 4 Eeveelutions come to Pokemon Go, too.
