Pokemon Go January ice type field task – Spawn locations, rewards, and more

Pokemon Go‘s January field research tasks are already underway. Of the plenty of challenges available, the Pokemon Go January ice type field task is causing some players the biggest headache. Do you need some help? Use our Pokemon Go January ice type field task guide to help you on your way.

What is the Pokemon Go January ice type field task?

The Pokemon Go January ice type field task is one of the many field research tasks that players can complete. This specific task requires players to catch 10 ice type Pokemon in order to earn a reward. With winter well and truly underway in the Northern hemisphere, now is as good a time as any to catch these Pokemon and complete this particular challenge.

Pokemon Go January ice type field task – Where do ice types spawn?

In order to catch 10 ice type Pokemon, you’ll want to know where they regularly spawn in-game. The first and best place to look is, naturally, in cold areas. These include ski resorts, glaciers, anywhere with snow, and—if you’re lucky—a relative cold snap in your nearest city.

Aside from that, ice types will also spawn near bodies of water. Rivers, lakes, and ponds will give you a better chance of finding ice types, especially if they’re dual-ice types like Lapras. Finally, there’s the possibility of just coming across them in grassy areas. Given that any other Pokemon type can be found there though, your probability rates won’t be as high.

Pokemon Go January ice type field task reward

If you catch 10 ice type Pokemon during this challenge, you’ll be rewarded with a rare Pokemon encounter. These can either be shiny versions of Pokemon you can catch/hatch, or legendary ones.

For this particular challenge, you’ll have the chance to encounter a shiny Kabuto. Kabutos are a tad difficult to find in Pokemon Go, so this could be your best chance of nabbing one, if you need to add it to your Pokedex.
